Spiders do not have mouthparts and cannot chew; their saliva contains digestive enzymes that break own their prey before they consume it. They are capable of making elastic silk for their webs which are strong and adhesive. The silk is also used to construct egg sacs and line the dwellings of the spider. The shape and size of the web varies depending on the species. Some webs are orb-shaped, others are funnel-shaped ranging from orderly to haphazardly. Some spiders don’t even build webs, some just live in burrows or take refuge in crevices.
